A 9 month battle

My experience with Alec Reid from Exclusive Photography in Salt Rock, KZN.

I feel compelled to share this so others can make an informed decision.

It has been 9 months of ongoing issues trying to receive the photo albums we ordered for my gran’s 90th birthday. We paid a significant amount of money, yet the albums we received were of shocking quality and far below what was promised.

Before printing, I was sent a slideshow and asked to clearly indicate which photos should be included and which should be excluded. I took the time to do this carefully. Despite this, the albums arrived with none of my instructions followed — requested photos were missing, unwanted photos were included, and some photos were duplicated in the album, which shows a complete lack of care and attention to detail.

What followed were months of excuses and repeated assurances that the albums would be corrected. Eventually, I was told that the new, fixed albums had been sent.

When I opened the package, I discovered that I had been sent the exact same poor-quality albums again, with no changes made at all, despite explicit promises that the issues had been corrected. After contacting Alec to ask why the old albums had been sent instead of the amended ones, I was given yet another excuse, with no solution or accountability offered.

The most upsetting part is that my 90-year-old gran has been looking forward to paging through her album, and month after month she has been left heartbroken while waiting.

This has been an exhausting, upsetting, and completely unacceptable experience, especially considering this was a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others to think very carefully before using this photographer.
