PHOTO BOOKS

I submitted a photobook which I did online in Photobook Factory's program Canva. I was told what size book to select etc. When I received the book they had printed I was appalled. Text was cut off at the top and bottom of the pages and text and photos were bound into the middle binding cutting off sentences and photos. The photos had a yellow tinge to them and the background colours of the pages had lighter marks all over them - it looked as if they had run out of ink. The back cover was not centered and the text on the cover was almost off the page. The cover looked like it was printed on normal paper and glued onto cardboard and had marks all over it. Some words ran into each other without spacing. I checked the book in their Canva program and it was perfect in the program as well as in the PDF file downloaded and saved from their program. When I complained they apologised and re-printed the book which was a little better but still with major issues. One 3 page story came out with big blue frames around the photos, covering the text (this was not even like this in the first book they printed). The cover was still not glued onto the cardboard properly. When I enquired about this and told them I wanted a refund I was told that "they had checked the book before sending it out and could not find anything wrong with it stating that it was my design and they do not make any changes." The changes that were made only appeared in the printed book and not in the PDF file that was downloaded from their program so the problem obviously lies with the way they print the book otherwise it would show in the PDF file or on the file created in their program. I will NEVER recommend PHOTOBOOK FACTORY (in Durban) to anyone and will never use them again. I am appalled at their quality of books. I have previously done approximately 20 other photo books through reputable companies which I was very happy with.
