Insulting and threatening car dealership that ***** your money for **** motor plans

Phil Minnaar Motors should be avoided at all costs. They are nothing but ***** and ******* and have quite a reputation as such. Google their reviews and you will find nothing but complaints. Speak to the people in town and most will tell you to stay far away from them which we unfortunately only discovered after the ordeal. How this place still does business is beyond me. We traded in our vehicle and were owed money. They had our car, keys and papers and we waited over a week for our money, nerve wrecking to say the least. When we were presented with the invoice for this transaction we noted that they had selected a motor plan for us, we were never given a choice out of the six options. We opted to change the one they had given us and from there everything just went from bad to worse. Two weeks after the transaction had taken place we requested some form of documentation for our records of the motor plan. We were given a booklet for Motorvaps with a half completed form inside and the incorrect policy option had been selected. We then queried this and were told that it was correct on the system (quite weird as we found out we were never on the system). After many calls and going to the dealership it was now clear that we were being given the run around. We were threatened and insulted by Phil Minnaar Motors. We called Motorvaps on 2 occasions to find out if we were on the system. Each time when I asked whether we were on the system they kept avoiding the question and said they would get back to me and never did. We could not get any answers from anyone about the R13000 we had paid. Did we have a policy or where was the money 2 months down the line? Brandon Buys the manager of Phil Minnaar Motors insisted we had a policy and Motorvaps could not find us on the system. We then posted on Motorvaps Facebook page about the **** that was going on. We then very quickly received an irate call from Motorvaps asking why we were posting such things about them. I explained the situation and then all of the sudden we had their attention. It was then clarified that Phil Minnaar Motors had only sent the documentation that day which leads me to believe that they were hoping we would not notice and pocket the money. When caught out, Phil Minnaar Motors tried to get the policy in place so that we could not cancel it or get our money back. I was then told by Motorvaps that we would have been covered anyway even 2 months down the line because the dealership had completed the form and then on the next call the story changed because Phil Minnaar Motors had not paid them so there was no policy. So for 2 months we had no cover and R13000 vanished. What I find very strange is how Motorvaps kept covering up for Phil Minnaar Motors and then when they realised we were onto them all of the sudden they had the power to arrange the money back in our account the very next day. We were then called to ask if we had received the money and that we should remove the posts off facebook like they had done us some favour. We greatly appreciate the fact that we received our money back but it was our money in the first place and had an invoice to prove it. As far as we are concerned there is a **** being run between the two and should be exposed. Also if you prefer not to have your life made a living hell DO NOT use Phil Minnaar Motors. They are a family run business that have no interest in the customer only themselves. The most shocking service we have ever received!!
