BEWARE WHEN BUYING PFAFF IN SA YOU ARE COMPELLED TO USE THEIR SERVICE CENTRES AT UNACCEPTABLE HIGH COST

Our business specialises in electronic devices and I recently received PC Board from a Pfaff embroidery machine for repair from a pensioner who makes a living with this machine. I found the fault and googled the part number and noticed several searches for this specific component all related to various Pfaff machines. I concluded this is a common problem with Pfaff machines and phoned Pfaff South Africa to purchase the part. My telephone number was taken and almost a week later a lady from Pfaff South Africa called me regarding this specific component. She informed me that components are not available as they replace the whole PC board when such a fault occurs at a price of up tp R5500-00 per board. I found that price to be rather steep as the part in question cannot cost more than R 30-00 which is a huge difference in price and a blatent money making racket and I told her so much. She told me that all Pfaff machines must be repaired by an approved service provider and the pensioner must take her machine to one of them, we are not permitted to repair it. All my calls are recorded and I forgot to mention that to her and the minute I told her she refused to speak to me ended the call most abruptly. Clearly Pfaff South Africa feel threatened by businesses such as ours who repair rather than replace to save cost for our clients and who will expose their money making tactics or plain incompetance to repair rather than replace. It is quite clear that Pfaff South Africa will sell you their product but cannot provide cost effective product support but rather go the route of extremely high cost module replacement to make even more out of the deal. This pensioner I am trying to help repair her machine is now out of pocket because of Pfaff not being prepared to assist with parts but only the complete module at one of their highly expensive service centre which is totally unaffordable for her. SHAME ON YOU PFAFF.
