Petworld XXL the worst franchise petshop in SA

Petworld XXL the worst franchise petshop in SA. Sky high prices, *********** and unfriendly staff especially at the Cape Gate branch. They also make decisions on processes without taking animals and clients into concideration. Like no longer wanting to have the qualified vet check and sedate cats before their coats get shaven. They expect one groomer to try and hold and shave a cat which unfortunately is not possible without causing injury to the cat and groomer. It is like you getting an operation without being sedated. Idiots making decisions without knowledge on what they are doing and not worrying about our animals.

Dear Michael,
Thank you for your feedback.
We understand that changes like this can be frustrating, especially when you’re trying to find the best solution for your pets. After careful consideration and in consultation with our veterinary partners, store teams, and senior leadership, we have made the decision to no longer groom sedated pets across all our stores.
Sedation is a medical process that requires close monitoring and the right equipment. A grooming parlour is not set up for this level of care, and even when sedation is done beforehand, there are still risks involved that extend beyond the procedure itself. Our vets, including those in our stores, have aligned with this approach and no longer support sedation for grooming.
We also do not believe in forcing or holding animals down against their will. Our groomers work with patience, gentle handling, and often with the support of a second team member to keep pets calm and comfortable. If a cat cannot be safely groomed without sedation, then the safest place for that process is under full veterinary supervision.
This is a considered, company-wide decision, made with input from experienced professionals, and it applies consistently across all our branches.
At the end of the day, every decision we make is guided by what is safest and most responsible for the animals in our care—and that is a standard we will not compromise on.
Warm regards,
Vannessa
