Non transparent business practices
We love supporting local businesses and utilizing local talent unfortunately, our recent experience with Petor Creatives has revealed concerning practices that we feel others should be aware of.
Initially, we contracted Petor Creatives to produce garments, including patterns, which we agreed upon and paid for. After making the first payment, they inquired how many patterns we needed, and we responded that we required three patterns — two to be sewn and one to be kept aside for us. Despite this, we did not receive any patterns or prototypes after the payment was made.
Later, Petor Creatives claimed that creating patterns “goes through a process” and that they do not simply create patterns without this process, a communication that was not made clear from the start. This was only brought up after we made the second payment and enquired why a third payment is now also being requested, which we found to be unprofessional and misleading.
Furthermore, we made an additional payment for the large pattern to be drafted and 1 custom garment to be sewn. They stated we were billed for 2 large patterns and garment construction, but we only requested 1 large garment and the construction of a custom-sized garment.
However, they later demanded extra payments, claiming that certain items or processes were not covered in the initial scope, despite having already paid for the agreed-upon work.
Instead of completing our order, Petor Creatives refused to deliver the agreed-upon work, stating that we must collect our materials. The garments we received were full of defects, making them unsellable and forcing us to return them for repairs. Their inconsistent communication, demands for additional money, refusal to complete orders and the defective quality of the garments are clear indicators of unfair business practices.
We do not aim to defame their company but rather to encourage others to exercise caution when dealing with them. We advise requesting full transparency and a detailed breakdown of costs and scope before making any payments to ensure your project brief is fully met.
We hope this serves as a reminder for other businesses to protect themselves and ensure clarity in all transactions
