DO NOT USE Peter's Mini Removals unless you like broken furniture and bad service.

Broken couch, late collection and delivery. Bad attitude. wet boxes on arrival. Do NOT use Peter's Mini Removals. DO NOT USE PETER’S MINI REMOVALS unless you like bad service and dealing with unprofessional people – who get rude to you when you press them for the obvious information – WHEN WILL YOU BE HERE? If you don’t care when they arrive to collect and deliver.. use PETER’S MINI REMOVALS. If you want to know when they will collect your goods and when they will deliver – DO NOT USE PETER’S MINI REMOVALS.

Below is a summarized account of my experience with PETER’S MINI REMOVALS.

I enquired about a removal of household goods from Cape Town to JHB and got a prompt response to my enquiry. Once I decided to go with Peter’s Mini Removals and sent through the completed paperwork.. I should have known it was going to be the worst experience ever. I never heard back from them for 3 days, after saying.. YES.. I WANT TO USE YOUR COMPANY… and no response? So I call the mobile number on the paperwork and the owner.. Peter, answers my call. Seemingly horrified that Dane never responded to me, he gets the office to call me and confirm my removal. So, as per company requirement, I pay the 50% deposit to confirm the collection. This is confirmed for Friday 29 June 2018 at 14h00.

On collection day, they call my son (whose goods we are moving) to say they are running 1.5 hours late and will arrive at 15h30. At 16h00 I call the office to confirm the time of arrival. This is where it gets really interesting!

Kim tells me a whole story about they truck being on it’s way to the depot, it has to offload and then come to us. So I ask.. so what time will the truck be here? Well sir, the truck has to go to the depot to offload and then it is coming straight to you…. Now remember that I don’t know where the depot is, and how long it will take to get to where we are in Durbanville. So I ask again.. so what time will the truck be here? Irritated at my question, Kim says that she will have to call the driver and let me know.. and she will call me back.

Long story short.. I called the office and spoke to Dane and Kim multiple times, then I called the owner Peter to TRY and get an estimated time of arrival. In this process, Kim tells me that everyone has left the office (it is now Friday at 16h30)!

The owner was not answering his mobile phone for about 40 minutes so I sent him about 5 text messages to contact me. Eventually he calls me back.

He asserts that he cannot give me an ETA as it is month end and it is raining…. This is supposed to be a logistics company who does this every day of their lives…

We eventually get given the drivers number.. to find out what time he will arrive at the collection address. He eventually arrives at 18h30 on the Friday evening. So now they have my household goods in their possession.

On Tuesday 3 July 2018 I pay the balance of the invoice as per the company policy. I send Kim an email with the proof of payment and request a delivery date.. I didn’t even ask what time they would arrive.

Kim responds to my email with… Thanks for your payment. NO MENTION OF WHEN THEY WILL DELIVER MY GOODS.

So on Thursday 5 July 2018 my son calls the company to find out when they will deliver.. they say that the truck will arrive on Saturday 7 July or Sunday 8 July 2018.. and here is the drivers’ name and mobile number. The driver confirms that he will arrive on Saturday or Sunday. Kim calls me to tell me that the truck will arrive on Saturday or Sunday.

On Sunday afternoon.. after many calls to the driver.. and many different times, apparently now the truck is broken down and he does not know when he will get to the delivery point.

So Monday morning (9 July 2018 ) I call Kim at the office to find out WHEN WE WILL RECEIVE OUR GOODS. ‘Extremely surprised that our goods have not been delivered” – she “finds out” and calls me back and tells me that the truck is in Alberton and once finished there, will come straight to me. So I ask her the obvious question.. SO WHAT TIME WILL IT GET TO ME? Irritated with me she responds – “LIKE I SAID.. I WILL CALL YOU WHEN IT LEAVES ALBERTON’ – I am still waiting for this call and it is now Monday evening 19h00.

At 17h23 I call the office which is obviously closed. I call the owner Peter.. whose phone is off. I send 5 text messages for them to contact me.. SERIOUSLY.. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS PAIN.

After multiple messages to the driver and Peter’s phone, I get another non-committal story about the truck being broken down AGAIN (now in Midrand – with no call from Kim to me after it left Alberton). Now I received a text message from the owner’s mobile saying the truck is broken down and needs a new starter.. mechanic is fitting this and the truck will come straight to me… so I ask the obvious question… so WHAT TIME WILL YOU BE DELIVERING TO ME? 4 Text messages later I get that it will take an hour from where they are to me… DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT AN UNPROFESSIONAL, FRUSTRATING AND RUDE EXPERIENCE.

The truck arrived at my house at 22h30 and offloaded my goods, only to find that they had broken the couch arm right off and dented the fridge.... SAVE yourself a lot of pain and frustration. Do NOT use Peter's Mini Removals.
