White Lady Supremacy

Good Evening

My name is Nkoana William Tladi a concerned Consumer Protector in my working space and I was disappointed on how PepCell at President Square has treated my aunt Rosina Sokwakwa. I am writing to you upon my return from PepCell located at President Square , Corner Playfair Boulevard &, Ascot On Vaal Rd, Vaal, Vereeniging where my aunt has been treated with disrespect ,her consumer rights Infringed and unfairly treated . Without wasting any time I would like to list a few of the CPA laws that where violated by a white lady (Please note there is nothing racial I am only trying to describe the lady ) who refused to share her name as she was not wearing a name tag. I don’t want to bring any racial ************** to this as it is not the reason I am writing to you.

Aus Magauta and Ouma you are copied to see the kind of consumer rights infringements one comes across as regular consumer without wearing a cap of a Consumer Protector.

My Aunt went to Pep Cell as listed in the subject line to procure a cellphone at a low cost having taken into consideration the reputation of PepCell when it comes to affordable rates. She bought the Cellphone on the 12th August 2021 at 10:00.51 AM to be exact ( Attached is the proof of purchase and the link to the phone as listed on your website) https://www.pepstores.com/product/cell/cell-c/stylo-life-sku-cqy88 . Since purchase she has been struggling with signal thinking it’s the area she is within however upon moving to different areas the network issue persisted . She then took a resolution to return the cellphone as it was not doing the purpose. Below is a list of the responses she received as she was trying to get either a refund or an exchange.

1. The front desk ladies assumed the jobs of Cellphone technicians and told her that it was the service provider and not the device. 2. They inserted a store sim card which also gave the same error but they continued to say it was the service provider. 3. My aunt’s sim card was inserted into a store cellphone and it worked, yet they continued to emphasises that the issues was the network not the device. 4. I then intervened and she then suggested she will book the device for repairs, I insisted on an exchange but the lady insisted their policy does not cover network issues. At this point I am convinced she is a technician. 5. Eventually she agreed to the change of cellphone provided that my aunt fetches the headphones and charger within 30 minutes before the store closes or else she is not going to accept the phone tomorrow this was upon having wasted over an hour debating on the exchange and PepCell Policy on Cellphone returns. ( Apparently she has gotten instructions from her Area Manager whom she moved to call privately ) . ( Which I personally agreed to however the time left to fetch them was not enough to execute the trip as she uses public transport). The arrogancy used in the statement by the lady was appalling . 6. At this point I bought airtime as proof of date and time (Receipt attached ). 7. If my Consumer Protection Act law is still present it says and I quote “Consumers have the right to return to the supplier/service provider faulty, damaged or poor quality goods within six (6) months of the date of purchase”. 8. Furthermore your receipt(PepCell President Square) as attached states “4. Faulty Handsets maybe returned provided it is within 7 days of purchase “ provided A. B and C as listed on your till slip are met. 9. We were left with no choice but to leave the phone with the store as proof that we came within the 7 days to be covered by the returns policy.

Having said that my aunt is traumatised by the experience she had with PepCell which she trusted so much and had faith . She further requests that she be refunded fully and she vows not to set foot at any Pep related store due to the treatment she has gotten. I am representing her as her level of literacy is a bit Low and the confidence of her combat in English is poor.

I had faith that PEPKOR treated everyone equally and fairly .

I can be contacted on ***.

Looking forward to your positive response.
