Very bad service!
Very bad service received from Pep in Petrus Steyn. We went to buy clothing for a children's home as part of our winter project. The day before we already made sure they took cheques as payment. Arriving there we went from shelf to shelf finding the right clothing for the kids. Then at the counter after much debate and an attitude from the staff we had them give us the amount needed for the cheque to be made out. So we left the clothing with the cashier to have the cheque made out to that amount. The cheque needed two signatures and we had people come in specially from farms to sign it. This took about 30 min and we went back to complete the sale. Arriving there we waited for everything to be put through the scanner at the till a second time as they apparently voided the first one while we went to get the cheque. Then only were we told that now they needed to contact the area manager and that they had to confirm that the check could be captured. We only now also were informed that they needed an Id for the bank account holder and a bank branch code (which apparently they were not aware was clearly printed on the bottom of the cheque) We then had the lady working at the office bring us an Id. She brought one for each of the signature givers on the cheque as it is a business account. Then we were told that now it is lunch time and the area manager was not available. After much debate and lots of patients so far and several hours now later the area manager phoned back and told them to let it through only to phone back 3 minutes later telling them no not to let it go through. No reason was given just to hand us the cheque back and not to do the sale. During that time everyone in the queue behind us was not helped. A second till of which two was not in use and lots of staff in the shop - only one cashier at the pay point - was not opened and these customers not assisted while we struggled with the payment. There was and still is No problem with our bank or with our cheque account. If the store does not wish to do sales on a day they could just close the doors and in the first place not waste peoples time.
