*****ulent Account Opened

I recently discovered that a Pep account was opened in my name while checking my credit score. To my dismay I had no knowledge of the account and it appeared that I had missed two payments and my credit score was declining because of this. I than immediately contacted PEP to verify this and they did confirm that the account was opened in July instore in Roodepoort even though I am located in Durban and work there and have never stayed in JHB. None the less I was sent a form to dispute the account and was advised on the supporting documents that I need to submit. I than proceeded and followed through with submitting the form on the 8th of December 2025 together with the supporting documents with my five signatures as per request. I was told during the telephonic interaction that this will take 21 workings days to resolve as an investigation would need to take place. I did not received any correspondence from PEP during and after the 21 days had passed .I than sent a follow up email which also I did not receive any response on . On Friday the 24th of Jan 2026 I contacted the PEP call centre to check the status of my application and I was put on hold for at least 5 mins before a consultant came back to advise me that he can pick up the email and that the verifications department will than start the process will start on Monday . I am really disappointed and shocked at the level of services provided by consultants at PEP as each time I have tried to follow this up my query was not handled with the care and urgency its deserves. After my call was disconnected the consultant did not bother to call me back and till now I have not been contacted by PEP. I am now considering taking further action against PEP as they have not done anything to attempt to assist me have this matter resolved. If you have used any of they services like I have please ensure that you are checking if there are no accounts opened against your name as its quite clear that our information has been compromised some how and PEP is not willing to take any responsibility.
