Thembi the mute

I was at the store just now. Greeted the cashier and noticed that I forgot something. I asked her if I can quickly go and get that item. Thembi was just quiet right through. I even asked "Thembi, can you speak"? When I came back she said something and I was still annoyed by her behaviour, I answered, I can't hear what you are saying but yes. She then repeated what she was saying, I said to her well now you can talk?
