Requesting Personal informational unnecessarily

Please explain to me why I was asked for my address before I could make a return at PEP Cresta on 28.04. When asking the cashier and manager no answer could be given and the manager was exceptionally rude. Or is it that PEP thinks normal people don’t know about POPIA?
