Poor customer service and inconvenience
On the 20th of June I visited PEP stores in my local town Whittlesea Eastern Cape province with the intention to send a parcel to my customer. My parcel was wrapped in a plastic bag and the contents being a beaded necklace (ithumbu). An unknown cashier with a name tag that was facing his chest wanted to open the parcel to verify the contents of my parcel. I refused to open it and told him that this is happening for the first time ever. He kept on referring to to a PAXI brochure that his demand to satisfy his curiosity is written on that pamphlet. I walked out of store as result of being embarrassed and frustrated. I asked myself, would he have assisted me should my parcel be wrapped nicely in a gift box, what did I do to deserve his maltreatment and un-professionalism. I contacted PAXI via WhatsApp chat and I was given their customs care number to call. I called them and they asked to speak to one of the store staff and I passes my phone to one of them in the store. The staff member told the cashier who served me earlier to drop my parcel. I joined the queue again and went to the same cashier. He refused once more to drop my parcel without opening and seeing what was in the wrap. I told him PAXI agent mandated him to drop my parcel. He said he will not believe my word for I am the one who called them. He called his manager by name of Yolo. They whispered together and still refused to drop my parcel. I asked his name and he told me he is Phakamisa Mali. I walked out and left the store. I escalated my experience and inconvenience caused to PAXI via the WhatsApp chat again and they profusely apologised for their partners treatment and assured me that they were engaging with them telephonically to address the issue. They asked me go back to the store for my parcel to be dropped. I informed them that the is no way I will ever set my foot in that outlet after their horrifying treatment, maltreatment, poor customer care, un-professionalism and inconvenience. I paid R60 written trip just to send a parcel and was denied service by PEP agent and all PAXI could say was 'sorry.'
