Pep store Queenswood
I had the worst experience on 13/05/2022. I went to Pep at Queenscorner, at 17:25. Upon entering their store I realized that they had few customers(+-3), and they’re White and I was the only Black customer. As soon as i enter their store, their manager(Male(Tshepo or something similar to that) follows me to the isle where i was in the baby section, after getting what i was looking for on that isle, I go to the reduced price isle, im still being followed by a lady this time, n they were also cleaning around where im standing. In a way i was being told to move aside. In a non-verbal way.
Then i pick out 1 pair of shoes, then proceed to the older kid’s section. When i was there another lady is following and stands next to me and I ask her, “what’s wrong? Is it time to close your store?, she says No” then i proceed to pick what i want. I wad angry at this point because I could see what was happening.
Then I head to the till to pay, the same lady is still following to see if im going to the till. In my heard i can clearly see that they thought i was going to ***** those items because I’m the only Black customer in the store. The other customers are not being followed because of their different race.
So Pep store, specifically Queenswood, are you racially profiling your customers?
Are Black people supposed to be ridiculed and st********** their dignity because of their skin, Are we still living in that era? And do you train your staff to discriminate against people of colour? Should i take this further? I
shall wait to hear from you because im not gonna stop until you fix this stigma that Black people are *******. Shame on You
