PEP phone store Buff refused to exchange a faulty phone on the day that falls within their prescribed period.
I bought my 13 year old son a phone on the 25th of January at PEP phones on the bluff, the phone has a speaker problem which unfortunately was not detected soon enough. his father called him and he was not audible enough, he asked me to look at the phone and I thought the issue was with the phone settings I tried to increase the volume and I thought it would be fine afterwards until my mom also called my son on Saturday night and also could not hear him.
today I took the phone to pep for an exchange as I was informed if anything is wrong with the phone I should bring it in and they'll exchange it within 7 days which according to them the 7 days was ending today. we could not find the slip for the phone we lost it, on the day I bought my son a phone it was my shopping day and unfortunately we lost the original slip for the phone. but fortunately enough I had paid using a card so I went to the store today with that 1 hope that they were going to assist me with a reprint and with that they'll exchange the phone for me, little did I know.
the store manager came up with stories like she doesn't think that MTN will accept the phone with the reprint which will result in PEP making a loss if it was a Vodacom phone they were going to exchange but how's that my concern as I bought my phone at PEP and not MTN. my question to her was what will I do with a phone that's not working that I paid for, she told me I should wait until tomorrow so that they can take it for repairs.
I understand that I was suppose to safekeep the slip but in all my experience of having phones, I have never ever nor have I ever seen anyone buying a phone that's faulty. I honestly thought the phone was working perfectly fine as we were able to do everything with it. please also take into consideration that the phone belong to a child whom I live with even I have not called him from his phone cause there hasn't been a need to do so this was not easy to pick up.
the service that I receive from your manager at the bluff store is very unpleasant to say the least. she tried to manipulate me more than anything in stead of assisting me in resolving this issue that's when I decided to leave the phone at their shop. she insisted that I bring the phone on the 1st which would be the 8th day. asking me who will believe me when I say they were able to do a reprint for me and that I left the phone at their shop what proof will I have. is manipulation a way of assisting a customer who's spent their money a right way of doing business. I brought the phone on the 7th day as I was informed it's either pep gives me a phone that's working or my refund.
I would appreciate this issue being resolved between PEP and MTN.
thank you
