PEP HOME SECURITY PERSONNEL: Protea Gardens
My sis and I visited PEP Home, Protea Gardens recently. I was looking for hand cream, we decided to shop around for other cosmetics and came to the face make up mirror shelf. I picked up the mirror and looked at it thinking about whether to buy it or not. Decided against it and placed the mirror back in the shelf. I don't know what happened but it fell over and tumbled to the floor and broke. I didn't run, knowing that the store doesn't make customers pay on such accidents, I honestly just wanted to find someone to report to so that it can be cleaned up as glass could cut anyone else who wasn't aware. There was a security guard who was on this ladder type of thing, we were approaching him when he said, "So you are going to leave this mess there?"...Shocked still and confused by what he said I asked him to bring me a broom and a dust pan so that I can clean it up. He must have not expected that because he mumbled something inaudible and I spoke more firmly insisting that he bring them so that I can clean up and leave coz time is also of essence and then he said that did I ever know the store policy on breaking things, he said "Who will pay that mirror?" with an attitude. I responded I will. He rudely told me to fetch the mirror stand which was plastic amidst those broken glasses and go pay it at the till. I put back all the other items I had wanted to buy and picked up the broken mirror. I stood in the queue for about 10 minutes to pay it. The cashier asked why I was buying a broken mirror, and I explained to her what had happened and that the guard said I should pay it. She told me that I didn't have to pay for it, that information was wrong... I left the store heartbroken and my mood ruined and without the things I had come to buy...
