PEP false/misleading advertising and then remove advert and ignore customer
PEP false/misleading advertising and then remove advert and ignore customer. When I saw the advert, I contacted the call centre and asked if the satellite dish was included in the price and was informed that the satellite dish was not with the decoder. I accepted that the reply. However, I received a call back from the call centre, apologising that they made a mistake, that the satellite dish is included and that I can purchase it form any Pep Store. I then tried calling two stores the one in Capricorn Park and the other in Blue Route Mall Tokai. The one did not answer the phone and second call did not go through as automated voice said that the call could not be completed. I then drove to the store, where I enquired purchasing the package deal and was informed that they do not stock satellite dish and I will have to contact an installer, but she could not give me details of the installation. I have been corresponding with the company regarding this via email and received no definitive response. On Friday I contact the email wanting to find out the progress, I was requested to provide the link of the advert, which I provided the link and received a reply that satellite dish is for illustration purposes contradicting the information I received from the call centre, there are also no disclaimers or exclusions on any of the adverts on the website. The advert has since been changed on the website, leading me to believe that I was misled. I requested further information but have not received a reply. I contacted the ARB and lodged a complaint. The ARB has since rep**** and informed me that they cannot force a supplier to honour any deals and can only work to remove their advertising should we find that it contravenes the Code of Advertising Practice. This means that are basically ensuring that misleading or false adverts are removed and consumers who are misled have to accept it.
