PEP CELL gave my wallet away

On Friday, 5 May 2023 I bought some items at PEP store at Northgate.

About 10 minutes after leaving the shop I realised I didn’t have my wallet and I quickly ran back to the store only to realise that the PEP staff had given my wallet to another customer who claimed to have picked it up and would be able to contact me.

I was very disappointed because she did not take accountability for letting someone take my wallet when it was clear that I (the customer) had left it there and that she was not the owner. She did not get any information about this lady When I asked her about this she simply said there is no obligation on their part to take customers lost items. She noted that the policy of the store is to destroy banking cards if they are found in the store. I wonder if this is indeed true, and if so, why was the same policy not app**** to my case? More concerning, I have taken great steps to try find this mysterious woman who was given my wallet. I engaged the central security office at the mall who said they would require the Pep Cell lady to be present so she can at least help us identify this person on CCTV footage. The sales lady seems not interested to do this process at all.
