PEP Cell Faulty Devices
Purchased a birthday gift for my dad on the 18/09/2021 from Pep Cell East rand Mall. Upon starting up the phone and doing a data switch the phone kept freezing, the following day (19/09/2021) I had returned the phone to the store. The consultant Nkosinathi Mahlangu advised that they cannot refund the purchase due to store policy and that the only option was to take another cellphone. Having lost confidence in the stores products I had suggested that a Pep credit note could would do better as we would prefer to avoid repetition of the inconvenience. The consultant stated that they do not issue credit notes (what kind of stores don’t do credit notes yet can take in customers funds?). The consultant then suggested that their supervisor would need to be contacted but didn’t know their number. He further suggested that we leave with the faulty phone and that he would contact us with a solution during the forthcoming week. This has been such an inconvenience and a costly affair. The travel costs due to this incident will be overlooked by the store and yet they cannot still facilitate a refund whilst selling faulty goods. The consumer council needs to be advised of the conduct of these stores and be regulated under proper conduct rules and guidelines.
