pep cell

I bought a stylo cellphone yesterday from pep cell Paledi mall and i was assisted by some lady i'm only now learning that she is a promoter from vodacom. I was told the phone comes with a vodacom sim and the only way for me to activate the phone is by buying airtime. I explained that i'll be using a my personal sim card therefore i would not be interested in buying airtime at that moment but after learning that the phone would not work, i ended up buying the airtime. The lady who was assisting me took the phone, inserted the vodacom sim that came with the phone, as well as my telkom sim that i've been using for years. After buying the airtime i asked her if my telkom sim would work on the phone and she said yes. The whole of yesterday my telkom sim said emergency calls. Today i go back to pep, I find a lady by the name of Maggy and i explain my dilemma, she asked if i told the person who was assisting me that i'll be using a telkom sim, my response was yes. She said in her experience people who come with telkom sim cards that have been working on a smart phone are never able to use the sim because it was using 3G network, yet the phone uses 2G. This was never communicated to me, she said the lady from vodacom would have not known, i should have asked the teller that sold me the device. How was i supposed to know that this is information i should ask? Is it not your employees duty to share this with your customers since they know better? I wanted to return the phone, I'm told they cannot take it back because it does not have a technical problem. I asked Maggy to call the person she reports to, hoping she'd assist me. She hesitantly gave me her numbers, I spoke to Nthabiseng, who is her superior, and she repeated the same thing Maggy said. What irritates me is that Maggy does not want the shop to take ownership of their mess, instead she wanted me to meet with the vodacom promoter lady who assured me that my telkom sim would work. I'm very unhappy with the pathetic customer service i received. Now i'm stuck with a phone i can't use my sim card on, i cant even do a sim swap because there is a likelihood that it wont work because my number is not new. Train your people to give information without a customer having to encounter such problems first. What a waste of time and money! I will never recommend pep cell to anyone!
