PEP BOKSBURG - RACIALLY PROFILING BLACK AND BIG SIZED CUSTOMERS

Today, I received the worst experience ever, and this time is because the store personnel and security violated, humiliated, and embarrassed me to the highest degree.

I went to the store in Boksburg in Commissioner street at around 9:55am today. When I arrived, I informed the security that I needed to make an exchange for the clothing for my daughter and my own for the incorrectly sized bra. I made a purchase of a size 36D BRA on Monday, 27 October 2024 at the Parkdene branch. I got home to fit and realized it was a bit small. I then went back to the store on Tuesday and they made an exchange for a 38D but when I got home, it was a bit tight too, so because I was closer to the CBD branch today, I decided to go there for a 40D. WORST DECISION EVER!!!!!!!!

The security (Teboho Matlala) at the door told me that Bras are not exchanged in this store and that I am wasting my time even walking in. he proceeded to talk about how irresponsible I was in buying a small item knowing it won’t fit. After the multiple comments made, he allowed me inside. I was then assisted by Puse at the tills who tried to assist me but then when she called the supervisor (Morris Tshabalala), he said, “If you don’t know your size, don’t bother taking the item”. I was shocked at this treatment because at the Parkdene branch, the service is friendly and welcoming. I informed him that it was not my first time buying and exchanging at Pep and he said that at Parkdene they have hired new and inexperienced people who do not know their jobs or the Pep Policy. He proceeded to coerce the other employees and customers to discuss why Big sized people will always take incorrect sizes and want to exchange them afterwards when they are small.

They humiliated me to a point where I decided not to exchange anything but refund everything. I was hurt and embarrassed afterwards. This is not the first time this has happened but the first of this magnitude. They always belittle black customers but treat the other races with respect, even when shopping together. It is so unacceptable, and I will require an apology from the mentioned people because they have ruined my shopping experience at their branch. If not, I will raise the matter to a higher level because of their ******, undermining, repulsive behaviors.
