I am writing this on Behalf of my wife. On Saturday morning 21/04/2018 we went to PEP in Fairbridge Mall. My wife went to the counter to pay and presented her FNB card to pay. The cashier took it, and the transaction went through on my wife's banking App. The cashier then told us that there has been a problem with FNB where the transactions goes through from the clients, but not on their systems. We then had to pay cash and were told the money would be credited back to her account in 7 days. I have a problem with this. For one, the cashier knowingly went ahead with the transaction, although she knew there might be a problem paying with FNB and did not give us the option to rather pay with cash in the first place. And secondly, why should she wait for that amount of time to have her money returned? It was not her problem in the first place. No other shops had any such problem. At the end of the month cash are really tight. And furthermore we only received the cashiers word that the money will be returned, no real proof that it will happen.
