A Hurricane Mobile touch was purchased on 03/11/19 from Pep stores. On 20/11/19 the device malfunctioned and shut down. The device was handed in at Pep Stores Cradlestone Mall on 22/11/19 for repairs .I was informed that repairs could take 3 to 6 weeks. I received a call on 10/01/2020 informing me that the device will be ready for collection on 16/01/2020. I was also Informed that technicians from Ingram micro only inspected the device in the last week of December 2019. On 14/01/2020 I received a call to inform me that the device could not be repaired as traces of moisture were detected. According to Alta from Pep Cradlestone Mall, this was considered customer negligence and was not covered by the warranty. I feel that the techicians from Ingram Micro were negligent in their diagnosis , that they dragged their feet getting to the diagnosis and simply took the easy way out by dismissing the fault as moisture damage. The device was not subjected to any conditions which could give rise to the allegation of exposure to moisture . I was not given the option of paying for repairs and the device was simply returned. Upon inspection , I discovered that the device was reassembled extremely shoddily and that some components were missing. I immediately informed my contact person at Pep, but no further action was taken . I am deeply unhappy with the unusually long waiting period and feel that the rushed diagnosis, when the device was finally seen to, is completely unacceptable. Regards André Hattingh ***
