Misleading “Contract” – FoneYam / Pep Cell Samsung A16 Turned Out to Be a Rental

My mother took a supposed 12-month “contract” with Pep Cell / FoneYam for a Samsung A16. She was told she’d own the phone after paying for 12 months , no one mentioned it was a rental.

She never received a copy of the contract (though they promised to email it), and we’ve now discovered that at the end of the term, she must either return the phone or buy it again at the retail price. That is misleading and *********.

This goes against the Consumer Protection Act — there was no clear disclosure, and no written contract provided despite repeated requests.

We’re demanding:

A copy of the original signed contract

Clarity and fair resolution — either full ownership after 12 payments, or cancellation without penalty

Please resolve this urgently before we escalate it to the National Consumer Commission and Credit Ombud.
