Foneyam is a ****!!
I am absolutely heartbroken and furious. I feel completely and utterly ****** by FoneYam and PEP. This is not a formal complaint; this is a cry for help from a consumer who was misled and taken advantage of by a system designed to be confusing. When I signed up for this device, I was shown a price on the slip of R1799. I trusted this meant that after the deposit, I was paying towards that amount. My first slip, my only piece of paper, showed R1799—a figure I could manage. What I am actually paying is a nightmare. I paid a massive R539.71 deposit, and then I was forced into fixed monthly payments of R224.03 for 12 months! Let's do the simple math that FoneYam refused to explain: R539.71 {Deposit}) + (R224.03 \times 12 /{ months}) = {R3227.07} R3227.07 for a phone that was advertised to cost R1799 on my initial slip. They are making me pay almost DOUBLE the price they initially showed me. This is not "no interest"; this is daylight ******* dressed up as a "rental fee." It is a financial trap! The R1799 shown on my slip was a lie. It was a bait-and-switch. They get you to sign up with a manageable number, and then they lock you into a contract where every single payment of R224.03 is not just paying for the phone, but paying their outrageous, secret profit margin. My total is barely lowering because the money is disappearing into hidden costs they call "rental." And to make matters worse, when I look for help: * They refuse to give me a copy of my contract. I have asked, and I have nothing in my hand but the original misleading slip. This is ******* and completely unacceptable. How can I verify my own debt without the document? * They do not send monthly statements. I have no paper trail, no proof of where my money is going, and no easy way to check if they are double-debiting my account, which I suspect they are! * The promise to "pay at your own pace" is an absolute joke. My payments are fixed and mandatory. If I miss one, they remotely lock my device, turning my expensive phone into a useless brick. That is not "my pace"—that is financial coercion. I am a hard-working consumer. I trusted a company backed by a brand like PEP. Now I feel sick with stress and regret. I have eight long, painful months left of feeling cheated. FoneYam, you failed to explain this process, you used misleading documents, and you stole my trust. I want my account to be investigated and these hidden costs to be justified or removed. You are taking advantage of people who just want a simple phone and a fair payment plan.
