Bad experience Pep Home Brookside
I visited Pep home @ Brookside Mall, pietermaritzburg today. They were experiencing a power cut, out of the staffs control, I get that... Firstly, we are over 10 years in to load shedding, no battery operated or rechargeable lights available in the store and we had to shop in the dark. The staff, all sitting around, talking and joking, one actually gave me a fright when I shone my torch on him sitting on a ladder in the pitch dark a few centimeters from me. He just laughed. Not thinking that the pos machines would be down too I proceeded to shop, taking about 20 minutes to select my items, using my cell phone torch as the other shoppers were doing but when I approached the till I overheard the client before me being told, cash only.. I got really annoyed, voicing my opinion however the staff behind the counter totally ignored me, surely that is something that should be told to customers as they enter the store when there is no power?or even a sign written in pen like other businesses had.. I voiced my concerns to the manager who low and behold was one of the staff members ignoring me who only stepped up after I asked who the manager was , no apology or lack of agreement just a blank stare and proceeded to grumble in zulu. So pep home Brookside lost out on my purchase, I went to the liberty mall pep where the service was fantastic from entry to the cashier who served me. Perhaps Brookside mall should relook at the management?? Managers are an example to the other staff and should of taken initiative in this instance of the power cut.
