Unprofessional merchandiser
Good day
On Wednesday, 22 April 2020 at around 10:31, I entered Shoprite Huguenot in Klein Drakenstein way, Paarl, to do some shopping. Upon my entrance, 2 merchandisers were busy at the front of the shop. One employed by Penbev (Coast & Country Sales) who's unknown to me and the other by Penta Sales, namely Grant. I entered the shop as a customer and expected to be treated as such. Wether you're a merchandiser or an immediate employee of the shop, you work in that shop and should treat customer with customer care. Doesn't matter if it's your best friend, girlfriend or mom, you are in a retail industry and should behave professionally at all times.
Grant shouted at me upon my entrance with the words:"Hey you fool, don't you know to ****en greet, why the silence huh?" With other customers looking on. I responded by telling him to **** off, I'm not your mate, I'm entering this shop as a customer and expect to be treated as such. I then walked on to do my shopping. A while later when I were in the baby section aisle, Grant and the other merchandiser passed the aisle with a pallet of Coke beverages, Grant was controlling the pallet with the pallet jack. He stopped and called out to me and asked me in a rude tone of voice:"Who the **** do you think you are huh? Do you think you can just walk in here and speak to me as you see fit?" I then asked him are you by any chance speaking to me, a customer like that? The other lady who were in the same aisle asked me to report it to the shop manager cause she's also a customer and why would someone speak that way to a customer who works there? I then told him that I'm going to inform his employer, one of his managers, Scott...who's number I have on my phone. He responded that he'll kick me in my ****. I walked towards him until I were in his face and asked him to do exactly what he just threatened me with, I'm closer to you now to do so. He then pulled his right arm backwards to take a strike at me on the shop floor, but pulled back again and told me his going outside to wait for me until I'm done with my shopping, then his going to assault me outside the shop, while the Penbev merchandiser instigated him to do so. I told him that I'm not scared of him and that he should be very cautious about what he says next to me cause he knows I know a lot of things about him that I can bring to surface to his management and that I will inform Scott about his actions of today while on duty for Penta. He told me to go **** myself, Scott's ****, he doesn't work for Scott, cause his a **** anyway and insisted that I should finish my shopping, his about to go out and wait for me outside then he'll kick me in my ****.
This behavior of a merchandiser is totally unacceptable while on duty, both for Penta and also Shoprite...as he is bound to the rules of Shoprite customer care services when reporting for duty. I feel threaten to go shopping there again as he threatened me with assault, with the intention to do severe bodily harm, the next time I'm at the shop again and his outside on lunch or tea that time. I feel no less then a customer who were treated with the necessary respect as a customer to the shop. I would like for this matter to be addressed and the necessary disciplinary proceedings/actions to be taken against him. If nothing will be done about this incident, I'm afraid that I will have no other choice, but to report this unacceptable behavior and incident and bring it to surface on Hello Peter, on the Shoprite Checkers Facebook page, send an email off to *** which goes directly to head office in Brackenfell, the Paarl Post (local newspaper of Paarl). And believe me, I will. My name won't be in dispute, but that of Shoprite and Penta Sales. I finished my shopping at 11:01 & his last words towards me was:"Goodbye ****ie, till next time" and showed me a middlefinger.
Like I said previously as well, that I have things I can bring to surface about Grant...well, the following is it. I were also a merchandiser once. I'm originally from George and knows nobody actually in Paarl. When I started at Shoprite in the CBD, Grant was also working there. On numerous times, Grant asked me to get customers for him as he sells ****** Gillette Mach 3 and Fusion blade cartridges, he *****s from Shoprite and offered to give me R50 per successful customer who buys the ****** goods from him for R150 per cartridge which contains 3 units. I've also bought cartridges from him once and he also bribed me before by giving me some for free when I caught him *****ing. The money he makes out of it, he uses that in his lunch or tea times to go smoke marijuana around the corner from Shoprite by a Rastafarian friend of him, who's stall is situated by Pep stores and Hungry Lion. This all happens in his work hours, intoxicated with drugs.
Grant is a ***** and I am living proof of that and he certainly doesn't belong in the retail industry as he doesn't know how to address or treat customers in the shop and I expect of the managers involved, Penta Sales & Shoprite, to act on this matter. I am not even scared to admit this infront of him, face to face, eye to eye.
I may be contacted back A.S.A.P on this email address as it is my personal address, but the best possible way to contact me would be via my cell number on ***. I won't leave this be and will take this matter further should I not be contacted within 2 working days.
Kind regards Jeremy Joseph
