Industry wide windscreen chip ****

Windscreen chip **** - why do so many dealers partake in this **** by someone phoning you when your car is in for a service about a so-called chip on your windscreen that needs to be repaired while there is no such chip and/or it does not warrant attention? What is the dealer's role in this ******** practice?

Its not particular to this group - it has happened to me at BMW, Mitsubishi etc. Every time you take a car for a service its the same story - someone calls you with a "windscreen chip" that needs to be repaired. When confronted the service manager typically pleads total ignorance. So, who does it? Do you sell your database to ******** so they know what cars are in for a service and then they phone you? Just stop it - you tarnish your reputation.
