Faulty solar inverter (under 5 year warranty) broken down within 12 months

After breaking down 3x times in within the first 12 months, of the 5 year warranty period, we've been told that the importer of "Imeon" (French manufactured inverter) is no longer being brought into RSA, due to a "fall out" between the importer (Rubicon), and the French manufacturer of the Imeon inverter. Now, "Rubicon" (importer), via the contractor / installer / supplier " Peninsular Technical Solutions", has responded that they are "willing to repair" the faulty inverter, and give only a remaining 6-month warranty on the inverter (i.e. - 4 years of manufacturer's warranty FALLS AWAY ..!!).. DOES THIS SOUND AS FAIR TRADING PRACTICE....?? Also, who refunds me for all the resulting electronic appliance damages / insurance excess fees paid / pain and suffering that my family and I have had to endure, with the 3 failures, within the first 12 months of installation.....?? The Consumer Protection Agency has been approached, but it is a long and painful THREE stage process, which till now, has frustratingly produced little -to-NO positive results...!!!

Going the legal route has also been explored, with a prospective THREE YEAR legal process staring at us, and the consequent HUGE legal bills....
