Poor service at peermed Germiston

I am so despondent about the poor service I received today at peermed Germiston. Firstly the problem started at reception , we were setting in the waiting room, my husband, my 9moth daughter and I when a white lady walked in the reception with four children who looked like they are a year apart . The ladies at reception starting making nasty comments in Nguni language about how the lady loves intimacy and she is selfish for having so many children . I kept quiet because the whole people in the reception were laughing. I was offended by this because as a health servant myself I am guided by ethics. We cannot label people simply for having different values from us. At 28 I have one child and at 28 she has four children . As health professionals we have to maintain a non judgemental attitude at all times and respect human diversity.

When we went to a consultation room my husband and our daughter. We were assisted by a lady who was pregnant. She did not great us, she immediately started asking me "why do I have a big belly ", did I not tie my stomach after giving birth . I was astonished at her behavior. I mean we have women who struggle with so many health issues such as fibroids, PCOS .These women have stomachs that look like they are expecting and most importantly these women struggle to conceive. She was insensitive to me as a human being, as a mother and a woman. I do not understand whether she was hormonal because of her condition.

In light of the above information I am quite puzzled about the skills that peermed Germiston staff are taught during their induction . I do not understand why we have to look down on each other as women .

My third complaint is against the doctor who assisted us , we told her this is our second time coming for the same problem. We explained that our daughter her left ear is painful and she tries hysterically, she assessed both of our daughters ears and told us that the left ear has a lot of wax and she cannot assist us because we cannot remove all the wax in my daughter's ear . My husband requested that she refers us to a specialist because he could observe we were not going to be assisted. I mean no one was saying remove all the wax . The first male doctor we saw at Peermed two weeks ago, had provided us with an oil. She could have said I am not familier with this condition and refer us to a specialist.

I always attend at Kempton Park and the service is exceptional there.

Good Day.
We would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention.

This is not the culture of Peermed and we will ensure corrective measures are put in place to rectify the behaviour of the staff members.

We will ask the doctor on the best way forward and will discuss with you once received.

Have a blessed weekend
