I had recently taken my daughter to the paediatrician as she wasn’t feeling well. My daughter was lethargic and irritable and had quite a high fever. The doctor in question (Dr Grobler) asked me a few questions and examined my daughter. From not greeting as I walked in to the horrible bedside manner in which she dealt with myself and my daughter to the fact that she misdiagnosed my daughter with tonsillitis even though my daughter had had tonsillitis previously and this time had none of the previous symptoms to suggest that be the case this time. She prescribed medication (antibiotics and probiotics) that I was extremely skeptical of as it wasn’t the same we had received the last time from our previous doctor and I wasn’t convinced that this was tonsillitis at all. Regardless, seeing as I am not a medical professional we gave my daughter the meds as instructed. The next day my daughter woke up with red, irritated spots all over her body causing her great discomfort and pain. We thus decided to go back to the paediatrician but when I called in I was informed that Dr Grobler was now on leave and wouldn’t be back at the office anytime soon and that if I wanted further assistance I would have to pay a full consultation fee once again for help.

I then decided to take my daughter to a different doctor at HealthWorx whom examined my daughter with great care and compassion and a lovely bedside manner and deduced that my daughter did in fact not have tonsillitis and that she was having a negative reaction to the medication prescribed by the paediatrician. We were advised to stop using the antibiotics and to simply treat the symptoms of fever and discomfort until the redness went away and the fever broke.
