Have not received our 1000 deposit

Good day, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding our recent accommodation experience involving Gerrit Schultz, who was responsible for managing Unit 803 on the 8th floor at Pearls of Umhlanga. Our primary concern is the R1,000 deposit, which we have still not received despite making numerous requests for its repayment. We were not provided with a satisfactory explanation for the continued delay in returning the deposit. We were also instructed by Gerrit Schultz that, if questioned by the receptionist or building management, we should not disclose that he was operating Unit 803 as accommodation. Instead, we were instructed to say that we were “business associates” of the owner, Rajesh Suwpersadh. We were even provided with questions and suggested answers in case we were questioned. This made us extremely uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about the transparency and legitimacy of the accommodation arrangement. Upon arrival, we were met by a man who was on his phone for most of the interaction and did not properly greet or assist us. He did not adequately address our questions, and his manner was extremely rude and unprofessional. We also contacted Ravi Govender, who had been copied on our booking correspondence, in an attempt to have the matter resolved. He informed us that he did not understand why he had been copied on the booking email and that he was also merely a guest. This added further confusion regarding who was actually responsible for the accommodation and the booking. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing. The lack of transparency regarding the accommodation, the instructions given to us about what to tell reception, the manner in which we were treated, and the failure to return our R1,000 deposit have left us dissatisfied and concerned.

Unsafe, Moldy, Damp Apartments

Review of The Pearls of Umhlanga, or Oceans Apartments We spent R106K on four apartments and had a very disappointing stay. The host Fara was unresponsive despite multiple complaints. The studio units smelled damp, one child even got sick and had to be moved to a hotel. The 1‑bed apartment at The Darm had a torn sofa bed with a missing leg, windows taped shut, and water leaking from the ceiling and walls. Worst of all, there was visible mold in the dining area, bedroom, and en‑suite. For the price paid, the condition and lack of support were unacceptable.
