Payflex - Unacceptable Refund Period - Up to 10 days
I made a purchase via. Payflex, as they allow 4 flexible payments interest free over an 8 week period. My refund was finalised on the 31st Oct-23 I called Payflex on the 03rd of Nov-23, to obtain an update on my refund, and was informed by the Payflex customer services champion that it takes up to 10 days for Payflex to process a refund. The refund norm with financial institutions / banks is between 1 and 5 days at maximum. I have to question the rationale of Payflex as a financial institution to retain a consumer’s refund for up to 10 days, before refunding the customer. I find this unacceptable business practice, especially coming from a financial institution.

We can understand your frustration. Not many consumers are aware of card and banking rules and this can cause frustration.
Once a card refund has occurred and entered the banking system, the clearing back to your bank account is beyond the control of Payflex.
A card refund can take several days to process since it has to go through the card (VISA, Mastercard) and your bank's networks.
The refund process generally ranges between 5 to 10 business days.
That is why we err on the side of caution when responding to a customer to manage expectations and state the worst-case scenario for refunds.
You can confirm the above response with your bank and see that Payflex is not at fault in this matter.
