My experience with Payflex =)
I'm always the first to give a review if I have a negative experience in order to warn my fellow citizens, but this time I actually have a great review in order to encourage my fellow citizens.
Payflex has become one of the de facto payment methods on any website I see it on, and they're one of the best in their space! Sometimes I ask companies why they don't have a partnership with them yet.
Their BNPL model works well (to make the system work in my favour, I actually make orders around the 10th-13th of the month, pay payments 1 and 2 in one go, and then pay the balance (payments 3 and 4) with my next salary). I also assume this works for me because they've increased my limits. Oh and once upon a time, one of the executives reached out to me when I had a query... I appreciated that kind of support too.
Sometimes I don't even need to split payments, so I choose the Buy Now option they offer to pay in full. I wish them continued success as an organization because we need these types of services in SA.
The customer service has always been prompt and good (one of the best in SA because you know how some SA customer service can be 💀) - so big ups to that team.
However, I will say that a lot of merchants use Payflex these days, and some of them have ***** vibes (I came across 2, luckily I got my refund). Where I think Payflex could improve is by having a better vetting process for merchants - making sure they have good reviews and that they deliver services in an orderly and timely fashion. Especially since I'm sure many people (like me) are starting to see them as reliable/necessary for online shopping. Some merchants I only get exposed to because of the Payflex Explore page.
In conclusion, Payflex should keep it up. Maybe they'll get a 5/5-star rating from me in the future if they can confirm the authenticity and reliability of all their merchants. Happy Shopping!

Payflex certainly prides itself with regard to our customer service. We have worked long and hard to ensure that we exceed our customer's expectations in any way we can. It was a long and rocky road to get there. However, we will not rest on our laurels and will continue to find ways to maintain and improve where we experience any gaps.
Your observations and points are well noted, with regard to the merchants. We try to afford up-and-coming businesses in South Africa the opportunity to build their business in partnership with Payflex - one of the leading payment gateways in South Africa.
Unfortunately, even after a strict vetting and onboarding process, which includes in-depth training with our Account Management Team, some merchants do not operate to the standards, we require them to.
When a merchant partners with Payflex, our expectation from them is that the customer experience, end to end, must be seamless. Customers do not differentiate between the merchant and Payflex. They see the service as one.
Non-compliance by merchants then impacts negatively on the Payflex Brand and Reputation.
However, after receiving any complaints from our customers regarding a merchant's lack of customer service, we first attempt to correct the merchant's behavior in this regard.
Those merchants who still do not meet the standards set by Payflex, are removed from the Payflex service.
