Dear Andile
Thanks for your review. Yes, Payflex do charge late fees to cover the cost of customers not meeting their Payment Plan commitment.
The reason is that we as Payflex incur costs from our bank and other 3rd party service providers, when customers don't pay on time. This has to be carried, in all fairness, by the client.
Please do remember that we provide interest free and charge free payment plans to customers. So when customers miss a payment, it puts everyone in a difficult position.
Our late fees have been increased to R75.00 recently, but in your example it was still R65.00 and was calculated as follows:
The R65 fee was charged the day after you defaulted. Another R65 was added 7 days later. If you still had not paid by day 14 days a further R65.00 would have been charged again
So fees could have reached R195.00 for a late payment. Luckily you paid when the fees had accumulated to R130.00
Please see section 8 of the terms and conditions on our website. https://www.payflex.co.za/terms-conditions/
We trust this explains.
