Paxi stole my package

I sent a package from pep on the 2nd of December, it was supposed to be delivered on the 9th of December, however, it wasn't delivered. I followed up and they told me it will be delivered but never was, when I did my last follow up I was told it's lost and the package is worth r6000, i told they won't pay because I didn't pay for insurance upon me sending the parcel I was never told about an insurance. Now I'm left with a debt and they won't take responsibility for it
