Paternoster, attempt house brake in while on holiday

Sadly to say, on the second day we arrived to Paternoster we had an attempt of brake in at the holiday house we stayed that was on the beach front in Strandloper street. At around 11:55 on Sunday night my wife hear a knocking noise, I got out of bed to check and got to the main door in time when 2 perpetrators were forcing the door open, I Pushed the door closed to prevent the perpetrators to come inside the house while I screamed for help my wife got out of bed and realizing what was happening help me to restrain the door to prevent them from coming inside the house, our son 13 and daughter 9 were terrified while there were watching me and my wife holding to the door. This fight lasted for several minutes, after that the perpetrators gave up and smashed the front window before they run away. Things to notice are that despite the security alarm that was activated this never went off as the perpetrators were busy braking at the main entrance were security beams are in place. Private Security company response was not good (we trigged the alarm when perpetrators gave up) they took over 15 minutes to get to our house, we also contact our caretaker (he got to our house before security company and police) our caretaker phoned police while he was driving to our house. When the police came we look around the property and found that kitchen window was also tried to be broken, we asume after failing at kitchen window they moved to the main entrance door. Sadly so, we will leave Paternoster as we don’t feel safe staying in the holiday house we were in. Hopefully this post will help to strengthen security in and around the area and also assist residents to source a alarm system that is less vulnerable and a security company with a better response time. We consider ourselves lucky as the perpetrators were not organized ********es, however we do not want to think of what could have happen should they have gain access to the house.
