*********** Pensioners

I have never been so badly stung. I was **********!!! PASSPORT 2000 charged me and my wife R700 each for very little service.

There were three other “customers” (stings, marks, suckers) in the queue in front of us, who all discussed this “service” while waiting in the Department of Home Affairs queue and felt the same as us.

On Friday 5th August 2016 my wife and I had a 07:00 am appointment to be assisted with the renewal of our passports and application for the new format IDs. We paid PASSPORT 2000 R1 100 each. R400 of that was returned to each of us, to pay to Home Affairs. In other words, we paid PASSPORT 2000 R700 each.

The first “service” we received was to be advised that we would be moved from pillar to post at Home Affairs and that we would have to constantly ask the Department staff what to do next – that information would not be volunteered to us. This was not true and the Department was a model of efficiency and friendliness.

The second “service” was to be told to walk across the street from their office to the Department, to meet a person in the queue (which was not very long) who was “keeping our place near the front”.

Inside the Department’s offices, we were completely alone. We were under the impression that there would be a PASSPORT 2000 staff member to do what was needed, or at least to advise us. EXACTLY what did we each pay R700 for?

My wife and I agree that we were ******!! The last time we felt so badly violated was the day we were burgled!!

Caveat emptor is a Latin term that means “let the buyer beware.” It has never been truer than in this case.
