Centurion Branch - Dismal Service
While it's fair to say a reopened or revamped restaurant deserves a chance at proving itself, its an entirely different thing when you as a customer are treated as if you are firstly not well informed and secondly if well...barely any service is even given. Which was exactly the case I had when my mum and I recently decided to try out Parrots in Centurion after they were revamped along with Centurion Malls renovations.
For starters, my cappuccino with cream had cream that was going off on it, which while its IS a rookie mistake for a restaurant to make, we let it slide as it was also well saved and corrected by an assistant manager very very well, and a fresh new cup of cappuccino and cream was brought to me which was very good.
The issue I have and is the very reason I will now never go back is the service was so bad by our waitress and manager that I had to even wonder why I even ordered the food to begin with:
I requested to order a breakfast which is clearly stated on the menu "Grilled" slice of tomato which I personally do not like and was even willing to pay for something else to replace it and asked the waiter what else could I have instead of this (Other restaurants gladly swap it for almost anything else breakfast based to swap this with and even sometimes for free). The manager who came over was clearly not well informed at all and had such a pathetic and rude manner, I should have asked for the owner: He blatantly said outright that no, it simply cannot be swapped out because the tomato is a garnish, so "What exactly do you want me to do?" in an extremely rude and arrogant way. Really!! Did you even read your menu? Why on earth would a restaurant list their garnish on a menu for a listed item!?
Aside from the fact that it is so shocking to receive this kind of treatment from a manager, how embarrassing is it that they don't even know their own menu...from a manager level!!!?? Unbelievable.
I honestly was not going to make a scene at a restaurant now just because of a lousy manager and we decided that we just want to have our meal and leave for good...which took us at least 30 minutes worth of waiting for our food to be made which was average at best. Oh, and the grilled tomato: was literally just sliced and put on my plate as a garnish instead of grilled. Yes, I understand that its a very small detail considering I didn't want it, but for my mum who was going to eat it decided also not to eat it as a raw tomato on a plate full of cooked food is absolutely pathetic!
Needless to say that I will never set foot in that restaurant ever again...but the Pizza e Vino right next door had unbelievable food which we should have actually sat down at and ate there (Should have actually made this a good review about them...in fact, I'll do a fresh review for them because their service and food was amazing!!).
I would rather put up with a restaurant that is willing to improve and become better than to have to deal with arrogant and ******** staff and management that almost literally leave a bad taste in your mouth.
