Price-gouging Toyota dealership.

I am most unimpressed with the parts office at Motus Parktown. I was looking for a rear trailing link for a 20-year-old Conquest/Tazz. It's a suspension part -- nothing overly complex, neither is there any expensive componentry on the part. It's basically a hollow pipe with a rubber bushing on one end and a c-style connector on the other. The salesman had no phone etiquette. He put me on hold (save I could still hear him). After he had chatted to a friend/customer/colleague for a few minutes, he returned to my call. From his behaviour on the call, I could tell that I was about to be quoted a ludicrous price. Sure enough, he quoted me R2200 per side. He also insisted that I bring a sample to the store to "make sure it's the correct part". I declined gracelessly. I eventually secured the part for R172 from a non-Toyota parts dealer. While I understand that dealer parts will cost a premium, there is a difference between charging a fair price and gouging the customer. This experience has virtually ensured that I will never look for "genuine parts" from Toyota again.
