Be careful when ordering books from Paperless School
I had the worst experience with Paperless School. I was searching for text books and found them. They gave me the option of buying an ebook or a printed version. I selected the option for the printed book, which was more expensive than the ebook. There was also a shipping cost for delivering the ebook to my delivery address, which I was required to record. The Printed version said that I must check for availability, but like most online purchases (I make regular online purchases), the order doesn't get processed if there isn't stock or you only contact them after ordering to enquire about when the stock will be available. I take ownership for my mistake that I didn't check stock availability prior to making the payment. Be that is it may, I make the payment for 2 books (Printed versions). After a couple of days I make contact with them to enquire about delivery at which point the lady tells me that there wasn't stock of the item, so the system automatically processed my order as an ebook. I then ask how that's possible because I selected the Printed option, I paid a premium for the printed book and I paid for shipping. To which her response was a nonchalant - "the system automatically processes orders as ebooks". That is clearly misleading and cheats consumers out of their money because you end up paying a premium and delivery costs for a Printed book, only for the order to be processed as an ebook.
I have no use for an ebook so I asked for a refund. They don't do refunds, even though they could clearly see that I haven't downloaded the book as yet because they hadn't provided me with the code to do so. They said I can only can a portion of the refund on the shipping costs because there is an administration fee for cancelling the shipping. I mean seriously!!!! Firstly their intention was not to deliver me a printed book in the first place - so can somebody please explain to me what administration costs? Then I ask to be refunded the premium I paid for the printed book - to date, no response.
Although the amounts involved are negligible, it's the principle - how many unsuspecting buyers are waiting for printed books? How many buyers are being ********** by non-existent shipping costs that are clearly added to make extra profits.
