Around May 2018 I received an sms which read “ Your PanicAssist R117, debit will run 25 May 2018soldbyRevolvingRew. ********** 226CrefREVOLVREWREVOLVR ********** 180224.Respond for help”. I was shocked about this alert in that I had no idea what is PanicAssist. I did not apply for such a product and do not know what the product entails. Upon checking statements I noted that in fact they had started debiting my Standard bank account in April 2018 for 99.99. I alerted the bank to reverse this payments and to stop future similar payments. Standard bank in turn indicated that they can reverse the payments and place a stop payment which will cost me R75. I informed the bank that these debits are ********** as I had not app**** for them and I therefore feel that the bank is making money out of a ******** activity. Even placing a stop payment I am advised by Standard Bank such will not guarantee that the debit orders will be stopped as they are submitted with changing reference numbers. indeed this month's orders have all changed the reference numbers. It is PanicAssist that is submitting the orders. Standard Bank refuses to waive their charges for placing stop payments and instead instructs me to contact PanicAssist which I don't know at all. I have been advised of lately to go lay a charge at the police station which I find unfair. Why should I go around for something that I even did not initiate. I find the conduct of PanicAssist to be ******** and *******. I did not buy anything from them. I would like them to stop the debit orders.
