HelloPeter Review We contracted PaintMaster SA in May 2023 to repaint and maintain our home after being assured that they had the experience and expertise to complete the project professionally. The company came personally recommended to us, giving us every confidence that we were appointing a reputable contractor. We invested approximately R350,000 in our home, relying entirely on PaintMaster SA's professional advice to specify the correct preparation methods, waterproofing products, paint systems and coating applications required for the project. What should have been a straightforward project was eventually completed in August 2023, following repeated delays relating to staffing, transport and scheduling. Within approximately two months of completion, serious defects began to appear. Newly painted surfaces started bubbling and cracking, while cracks that had been repaired under warranty soon reappeared. These recurring failures raised significant concerns about the quality of the preparation and workmanship. The tile coating that PaintMaster SA recommended, supp**** and app**** was sold to us with a 10-year guarantee. Unfortunately, it also began bubbling and flaking shortly after installation. During the subsequent warranty process, we were informed by PaintMaster SA that the coating system originally recommended and installed on our tiles had in fact been the incorrect system for that application. Numerous attempts were then made to remove the failed coating, but these attempts caused further deterioration to the tiles, leaving them beyond repair. As a result, we are now faced with replacing the tiles at our own expense, and despite repeated requests, this issue remains unresolved. Over the past two years, we have made every reasonable effort to work with PaintMaster SA to resolve these warranty issues. During this time, our matter has been handed between eight different employees, requiring us to repeatedly explain the history of the project, arrange additional site inspections and rely on fresh assurances that the defects would finally be rectified. Unfortunately, each handover resulted in further delays rather than a lasting solution. Given the amount we had invested and the length of time the matter had remained unresolved, the owner of PaintMaster SA became personally involved. While we appreciated his willingness to engage with us, the defects remain outstanding despite repeated assurances that they would be addressed. In October 2025, PaintMaster SA repainted part of our boundary wall in an attempt to resolve the bubbling. Unfortunately, the repair failed within only a few months, with the bubbling returning once again. While we appreciate that the boundary wall itself may not fall under the original warranty, there is no reasonable expectation that a professionally app**** premium paint system should begin failing again after such a short period. Throughout this process, we have received numerous assurances that the outstanding defects would be resolved. The reasons provided for the delays have varied, including weather, staffing changes, scheduling and other projects taking priority. However, despite more than two years of patience and cooperation on our part, the defects remain unresolved. Our greatest disappointment is not that defects occurred construction and maintenance projects can encounter problems, but rather the complete lack of effective after-sales service and accountability. We re**** on PaintMaster SA's professional expertise to recommend the correct products and application systems, and we expected the company to honour the warranties that formed part of the original agreement. A warranty is only as valuable as the company standing behind it. Unfortunately, our experience has been that repeated assurances and guarantees have not translated into a satisfactory resolution. This review reflects our personal experience as paying customers. We sincerely hope PaintMaster SA will still honour its commitments and work with us to bring this matter to a proper conclusion. Until then, we believe prospective customers should carefully consider not only the workmanship offered, but also the company's after-sales support and willingness to honour its warranties.
