Contractor not completing work

Last year we got a contractor to come in and do some work in our home. We wanted our deck cut, sanded and re-varnished and our outside table and chairs sanded and re-varnished. He said that he was a carpenter and knew what he was doing. He asked for a 70% deposit which we paid.<br> <br> He was supposed to complete work on the 18/12/2015 but in order to do this had to take our chairs away so that he could have everything completed by said date. <br> <br> We are now in March and the work is half done, our deck is in a worse condition (collapsing) from sitting for so long being untreated, the work which was done was below par, our table is half done. <br> <br> They kept promising to return our chairs (for 3 months) but we got excuses every time from weather, to no transport, to being in hospital, to being away - the list goes on. I have kept all correspondence. We finally got our chairs back (we got a message telling us to collect our chairs from a storage facility) , unfixed and half sanded after threatening ******** prosecution.<br> <br> I am having to now get quotes from people to come and fix the problems which is more money. Do not use these people!!
