Overberg Pools: Dylan Viljoen took our money and left without finishing the job.

Dylan Viljoen gave us a Quote for an infinity pool, within 3 hours, did not ask to wait for engineer plan. We paid him more than 50% in advance. The hole was not where we wanted it - he marked it out with some wheat flower that I had to give for him but it was impossible to see the picture from a distance to judge the position. I just trusted he would make it where I showed him, and wrongly assumed a decent builder will make it straight with the house walls - but the hole was skew. We asked him to move it more down the hill and straight with the house , which took him less than two days to do - just basically rearrangement of sand bags and filling the bottom part. He asked us R7500 for that which we paid instantly without complaining. Then an engineer advised me to get a plan as the bottom wall will need a lot of support and it sounds like he is planning something small and quick, so we asked an engineer for a plan. When Dylan saw the plan, he refused to go on with the project as now there are double walls and a very wide foundation with extra steel. We said he can requote, even though we feel he should have asked for an engineer plan before he quoted in the fist place. But he refused, did not even start to build the shell, and took off with our money. So now we sit with a hole and a lot of sand bags and debt. He asked us twice for an advance of the second half, which I paid the first time but complained about the second time. His running costs - labour, *****t, steel, fuel, sand bags, was basically 50% of what we paid him so far - so the rest we have lost. He is unreliable, difficult to communicate with and not trustworthy. Take your money without finishing the project without the blink of an eye.
