WARNINGS & DANGERS TO FAMILY OHS VALUES vs SA AU PAIR AGENCY

After finishing Gr12 in 2024, our young unexperienced adopted daughter of whom we are her legit foster parents & guardians by court; app**** through OVC Gauteng, Pretoria (SA AU PAIR AGENCY) in 2025 to be an Au Pair in the USA. It cost us a lot of pension money, time and effort and we were from start not 100% included in the processes and matching of "potential Host Families" by the Pretoria OVC Agent but eventually on 28 August 2025 she left for Texas, USA to her "Host Family". WHAT A NIGHTMARE AWAITED US!! Be WARNED!! When OVC got their money and your loved-one gets on the plane; you as parent get 100% cut-out of any interaction and/or communication. The lady owner and her agent just told us later that your child is 18 and not a child anymore, and that means everything is just between us and her (as well as USA Au Pair Care). AND HERE IS WHERE THINGS GO TOTALLY WRONG since our experience is that OVC Gauteng & Staff DOES NOT support Family & Christian values, Culture, Traditions, Parent-child support & ties, Resilience, Regular feedback, etc. As parents you are totally cut off and excluded from your young child out there in the Big World as if there are no danger at all. We pleaded to OVC Gauteng's lady Franchisee who owns and manage Gauteng, Limpopo, North West, Mpumlanga and Namibia BUT it all just fall on NO SYMPATHY, NO HELP, NO INCLUSIVENESS & TRANSPARENCY at all. What is alarming that our daughter's health deteriorated and she got seriously ill and fainted twice if not more in the Host Family's home and that the husband and/or son carried her to her room and put her into bed whereafter the wife tried to recover and treat her. WE WERE NOT IMMEDIATEDLY CONTACTED and/or received any feedback from the Host Family, USA Au Pair Care and/or OVC Gauteng (Pretoria). We were not even asked about our daughter's medical history nor were we ever immediately contacted and/or informed or updated about her wellbeing and performance. The Franchisee even ignored us totally when informed about our daughter's medical background and treatment medication, the reason why we are getting worried. The unsupportive and cold attitude OVC displayed effected our relationship with our child in such a serious manner that she and us almost alienated us, and this at current in her very unexperienced fragile time in her young found freedom & adulthood with almost no means to guidance & support by her own family / parents in SA. We even had to borrow her close to USD5,189.00 up until now to help her out with challenges she encountered in the USA and on her holidays where she got stuck WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT FROM HER OVC OR USA AU PAIR CARE AGENCY. More incidents can be mentioned but let us leave at this. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN IF YOU GO AU PAIR!! NB!! Here are two other very serious AU PAIR WARNINGS = TRUE HAPPENINGS: 1. An Au Pair friend got seriously ABUSED & MISUSED by her Host Family. They locked her out of their house and later chased her away. My daughter immediately brought it under the USA AU PAIR CARE agent's attention BUT at the end she drove more than an hour out of her host family's town to assist the girlfriend and temporary provided accommodation for her until the girl sorted out her challenge. 2. In another incident a host family also ABUSED & ILL-TREATED a girlfriend of my daughter by first lock her also out at night when she was on an evening outing until the next morning. This was followed up by the host family kicked her out of her room when her Au Pair term (tour of duty) came to an end and she had to get ready to return to her country of origin. She literally had to go and sleep in the garage of the house. Again, my daughter acted in disbelieve and drove more than an hour out to go and rescue her and give her shelter in her room until she departs back home.

It is obvious to us and the facts obtained that a child / young adult that stays with her parents MUST THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING THE AU PAIR ADVENTURE FOR EXPERIENCE & MONEY....to us as parents it is a BIG RED NO!-NO! YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CHILD TO BE ALIENATED FROM YOU AND /OR MISUSED, ABUSED OR ILL-TREATED OR EVEN GET SERIOUSLY ILL WITHOUT YOU TO SUPPORT and/or HAVE 24/7 365 communication with all involved parties, and an AUTHENTIC AU PAIR AGENCY that have integrity and strongly by all means 100% support by WORD & ACTION family values & woman / family welfare. Unfortunately, as per our experience, OVC GAUTENG (PRETORIA) & its SPECIFIC FRANCHICEE IS NOT such a business with impeccable INTEGRITY!! STAY AWAY or follow another route but ALWAYS be inclusive from start to end to prevent pain & sorrow.
