You don't get anything out
I have been a client with Outsurance for more than 12 years. I have had a few claims that were dealt with promptly...thank you. I have been claim free for more than 5 years...received 1 Outbonus...thank you. Last year, on the 11th July 2018, I called Outsurance to change my motor vehicle cover from private use to private and business use - we were given a business opportunity and as we were going to use my personal vehicle I thought it would only be right to get the appropriate cover should any problem arise while the vehicle was being used for business - even though it was once a week. The business opportunity would only bring in less than R2000 a month but why take the risk with other people's lives, I thought it best to get things done right. I was under the impression that all that needs to change is that the policy would now include coverage for business use and obviously the premium would be higher....R1100 to be correct. Oh, the consultant was very polite and my conversation lasted more than an hour...that too, from my cellphone. While on the call SMS's were being sent to my cellphone. During this time I was not informed by the agent that my policy will be cancelled and a whole new policy needs to be started ... nor did she mention how it would/if it would affect my no-claims bonus. After the call, I went through the SMS's - one of the SMS's said that my Outbonus is due on the 28th May 2019 for an amount of R1400...I was happy, I even gave excellent ratings in the survey. On the 28th of May this year I was eagerly waiting for my phone to beep - a message to let me know that Outsurance has paid the R1400 .... but nothing. So naturally, I called to find out what happened only to be told that my policy was cancelled on the 11th July 2018 and that the new policy will only pay an Outbonus in 2021. I was asked to send a screenshot of the SMS, thankfully I had saved it, to Johan Botha. I was told that they will have to listen to the recording to find out what was said. More than a month later I e-mailed Johan Botha to find out the progress...he said he was on leave that's why nothing had been done...I was so upset. I had to clarify that I had no intention of cancelling the policy...in fact, I was giving Outsurance more business. Outsurance claims "You always get something out!" but it's not true. I am an existing client, who faithfully pays her premiums, I was honest to inform Outsurance of what the vehicle will be used for knowing that I will be paying much more. How is it that Outsurance is prepared pay someone R400 if they get a lesser quote from another insurance company - that person is not going to give Outsurance any business, but the one who is paying every month doesn't even get a cent from the Outbonus that is due to her. I want my Outbonus...I have been claim free for more than 5 years, I did not cancel my policy! My next step is the Short Term Insurance Ombudsman. Outsurance is a bunch of *****.
