Worst Insurance Company

Recently I had an incident where a person drove into the back of of when leaving a stop street as I stopped and checked if it is clear I left and had to brake again as there was a vehicle obstructing clear vision of the road so as i proceed forward a vehicle passes and I had to brake and then made sure I could leave but then a knock from behind as the person thought i left and he was also trying to make sure it’s clear as the vehicle on the road was obstructing the view. Long story short I took vehicle for quote and the total came to R25000, I send quote to guy that knocked me but he does not have insurance and not working at moment so I know I will not be getting anything out from him. After communicating with him for a few days I made him an offer to pay my excess and my no claims bonus I would have received in a few months’ time as I have not claimed in years. He finally agrees but needs to time to ask family members to help out. I got excess money etc from him and wrote him a receipt that I received the excess money and from here on out he is out of the whole situation now. I approach Outsurance and explain to them I got my excess out of the person and now putting in a claim, they told me the legal team will still try to recover the difference as well so I said no I gave this guy my word that he is out of it once he covers my excess and will not change my word like Outsurance will do. I spoke to a manager in the legal team and explained my situation and she said she will discuss with whoever and get back to me, after coming back she says no they will go after him. I am like oh I struggled to get out of him and now I give him his money back then he comes back and say he does not have then I have to fork out excess which I cannot at this stage in time which means my vehicle will never be repaired, even if Outsurance came back and said they will compensate a small amount at least and I carry any workman ship issues I would have seen great customer care but for me who has never claimed on a vehicle before and did not know of procedure and I hate claiming as can be seen on my profile. This has made me look at other insurance companies now such as Mutual & Federal who friends and family are having no issues. This is not the 1st time I left my claim and paid out of my pocket as previously I tried to put in a claim but no luck as I was told it was poor workmanship. So this is where I draw the line with Outsurance and will inform whoever I come across to stay away from these cheap insurance like Outsurance who hates paying from their pocket even all my premium to date could repair my car 20 time over.

Once again I was promised a call after 1pm on the 6th March 2018, but yet still no call unless they are waiting for my claim period to elapse so a win win for them, at least a courtesy call to say they need time to discuss the matter and that the claim period will be put on hold.

Good day,

We fully understand your point of view. Please note once a claim has been settled it is standard insurance practise to pursue the third party.

Our legal manager Tshepo contacted you to discuss this in detail with you and she informed you to have the vehicle assessed. Once done we will then inform you on the way forward.

Thank you,

Kelvin
