Why do we have to pay excess when its not our fault?

i find it very annoying to pay for someone else's damage. I will gladly pay the required access when I or my nominated driver causes a car accident. No one has the ready cash to just give away when your insurance company demands access payment. But in this instance my daughter was driving the vehicle and a few months under 25 years old. At the end of this December she will have her drivers licence for 5 years without causing an accident nor did she receive a penalty for a traffic offence in the 5 year period which I find more than excellent. Now in this case, she was stationery at a traffic light in the city and the driver of the vehicle that caused the rear end accident just said sory as he thought the vehicles ahead were moving when he saw the lights turned green. Now I as the principal driver have to fork out double the required accsess prior to having the car fixed because of my daughter's age. Now I was told that they will attemp to recover the accsess as there is no guarantee. I strongly feel that this is grossly unfair and that Outsurance need to re-look at their policies. Why do they even have to try??????

Hi BoyJardine50,
Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. Lerato our claims manager contacted you to explain the recovery process in detail with you. She also explained how the excess works and that if the incident driver who is not noted as the regular driver is under the age of 25, then there is an additional excess. You are going to get back to Lerato on Monday to finalize the appointment with the service provider.
