We all need to be engineers to have insurance

My Parents had a retaining wall collapse that forms the boundary between their property and the property next door to me. The property next door sits lower and my parents driveway is also right against the boundary. They contacted outsurance to submit a claim and the assessor came out and looked at the damages. They informed them that the wall was originally of poor construction and under engineered. Now this is a wall that was built some 50 + years ago and has held up all that time. How are we as the consumers supposed to know that something like that is under engineered if it was built at the same time as the house. Should Outsurance not have sent out an assessor to evaluate the property at the time of acceptance of the quote to insure to highlight possible problems. They have been a client of outsurance for years and after i spoke to a few other random insurers about a problem like this they informed us that such a claim would be paid out due to the sudden nature of the collapse. I am so dissapointed in the empty promises which Outsurance portray day in and day out in all forms of media.

I will for certain be seeking another insurer. and never recommending them to anyone.
